PuzzTrek is a free puzzle website. We have kept it as private as we can: there are no accounts, no sign-up and no advertising trackers.
Your progress (puzzles solved, streak, favourites, light or dark mode, sound settings, postcards and artifacts) is saved in your own browser using local storage. Clearing your browser data deletes it.
So MyStats can show how you did against everyone else, when you finish a daily puzzle your browser sends us the result: which puzzle and level, the day, whether you solved it, and your time, number of guesses or words found. It is sent with a random code made by your browser (so the same result isn't counted twice), not your name, email or any account. We do not store your IP address with it.
We only ever show these results added up for everyone (for example "faster than 72% of explorers"). Clearing your browser data creates a new random code. Practice games are never sent.
To learn which games people enjoy and how they find us, your browser also tells us, using the same random code, which PuzzTrek pages you open, when you make your first move in a game, when you finish or share a puzzle, and where your visit came from: a short tag on the link you followed (for example ?src=x) or the name of the website that sent you. No names, emails, accounts or IP addresses are kept with it, and we only look at it added up across everyone.
You can switch this off on this device: If your browser sends a Global Privacy Control signal we treat it the same way.
PuzzTrek is hosted by Cloudflare. Like any website, Cloudflare processes your IP address and basic request details to deliver the pages and protect the site from attacks. We use Cloudflare Web Analytics, which counts visits without cookies and without identifying you.
Our lettering is loaded from Google Fonts, so your browser connects to Google to download the fonts. Google receives your IP address when this happens. See Google's privacy policy.
If you email us at [email protected], we use your message and address only to reply. Our email is hosted by Zoho.
PuzzTrek does not set cookies. If we ever add advertising or other services that use cookies, we will ask for your consent first and update this page.
PuzzTrek is a general-audience puzzle site and does not knowingly collect personal information from anyone.
Under UK data protection law you can ask what information we hold about you and ask us to delete it. Because we do not keep accounts, we hold nothing that identifies you beyond any emails you send us; anonymous puzzle results can't be linked back to a person. Contact [email protected]. You can also complain to the Information Commissioner's Office (ico.org.uk).
If this policy changes we will update the date at the top of this page.
